Global Talent Search -- Trade Development Alliance
We are conducting a survey of college-educated people under 40 in 10 city/regions around the world to measure what they value about the city in which they live. The results will be presented at the "Creativity and Talent in an Urban Environment" conference sponsored by the International Regions Benchmarking Consortium. The Conference will be held in November in Barcelona. Members of the consortium are Seattle, Vancouver, Melbourne, Dublin, Barcelona, Fukouka, Daejeon, Helsinki, Stockholm and Munich. Seattle is represented by the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle.
Citizen Engagement in Government Performance Audits
The Washington State Auditor has commenced a program of performance audits of public agencies, as mandated by Initiative 900, passed last year by state voters. Elway Research is coordinating a comprehensive outreach program to involve citizens, stakeholders and public employees in this unprecedented effort. We are conducting focus groups and town hall meetings with randomly-selected groups of citizens using electronic, interactive polling; we are conducting random-sample telephone surveys of state voters; and we are conducting surveys of stakeholders and agency and local government employees. Everett Clinic
We conducted a community survey to assess The Everett Clinic's reputation and image in its service area and to test the effectiveness of their communications strategies. This is the third time we have tracked these data in the past six years.
Premera
Changing opinion climate around health care reform. We conducted a survey and analysis of changing public opinion in the Northwest as compared and contrasted to nation opinion. The results were presented Premera’s annual Performance and Outlook conference.
Shoreline Water District
We conducted a customer awareness and satisfaction survey for the Shoreline Water District to assess customer perceptions and opinions about the district and potential changes.
Thurston County / Tumwater Storm Water
We area conducting a telephone survey of residents of unincorporated Thurston County, plus Tumwater, to assess public awareness, opinions and behavior related to stormwater. This is the latest in a series of more than a dozen surveys we have done for jurisdictions around Puget Sound on this topic.
Is Seattle Friendly to International Visitors? -- Trade Development Alliance
We are updating a survey we conducted in 1993 to measure how "visitor friendly" Seattle is. We distributed questionnaires to international business and leisure travelers in the Greater Seattle area in September. The questionnaire asked about their experience in this area on topics from how they learned about Washington Sstate to what they did while they were here, to how they were treated, to the availability of services.
Imagine Olympia - City of Olympia
We conducted a telephone survey of Olympia residents to kick off the City's "Imagine Olympia" program - a year-long citizen engagement effort to update the city's comprehensive plan. The survey asks residents what they want to see as the city prepares to add 20,000 residents over the next 20 years.
First Ever Televised Statewide Town Hall Elway Research made television history by producing the first-ever, statewide town hall forum. As part or our on-going work with State Auditor Brian Sonntag’s performance audit program, we connected 475 randomly-selected state residents to a giant conference call and broadcast the event live on TVW. Participants answered survey questions with their touch-tone phones. Tabulated results were telecast instantly. Participants were also able to ask questions of Sonntag during the hour-long telecast. Citizens from all 49 legislative districts took part in this historic event. www.tvw.org
Resident Impact on Water Pollution -- Snohomish Conservation District
We are conducting surveys in three target areas of Snohomish County to aid in the development of communications and social marketing strategies to improve residents awareness and behavior regarding water pollution. The surveys will focus on livestock management, residential remediation for rainwater, and prevention of contamination from septic systems and pet waste.
Washington State Medical Association
Physician perspectives on the changing practice of medicine. Survey of Washington physicians followed by a series of focus groups with physicians around the state to explore issues related to the changing business and practice of medicine. The research is being used in a strategic planning process for the WSMA.
Northwest Air Quality
First-ever stateside survey to determine the extent of home wood burning in Washington and to develop a profile of households who burn wood. The survey results are being used to develop communications strategies to improve wood burning practices in order to improve air quality in Washington communities.
Kirkland Citizen Satisfaction Survey
We conducted a survey of citizens of Kirkland, WA to measure trends in citizen priorities for city government services and satisfaction with those services. This is the third time we have conducted this survey over the past six years.
